Medlin + Panter Writing Support
We provide one-on-one writing consultations for graduate students, including MD students and PhD and Master's students in the health and biological sciences. We work with writers on a range of high-stakes documents, including:
manuscripts
dissertations
residency and fellowship applications
Collaboratively and iteratively, we help writers improve the clarity, flow, and organization of their written work and provide guidance on how to write for specific audiences and specific academic purposes. Each meeting is tailored to help the student not only succeed in their current writing project but also grow as an academic writer. All consultations are non-directive (no copyediting or ghostwriting) as well as confidential to preserve students' ownership over their writing. These practices are grounded in years of successful work with MD, PhD, and MS students and other early-career academic writers.
We have conversations with academic institutions – most often medical schools – to determine specific needs, including the specific student populations and document types that require support and the anticipated volume of support needed. No new infrastructure is required, as writing consultations are virtual, and we can provide our own scheduling, videoconferencing, and record-keeping systems. We offer competitive retainer pricing, structured around weekly consultation capacity. Contact us to learn more.
We also work directly with students in the health and biological sciences on a freelance basis, priced per consultation. Please reach out to discuss your writing support needs.
Although our focus is on graduate students, we have experience providing both writing consultations and editing support to post-doctoral associates, residents and fellows, and early-career faculty. We can discuss these types of services in greater detail on request.
